  • This is a unique blend of 50% Sangiovese and 50% Pinot Nero. The color is clear, medium (-) ruby, consistent with what one would expect from this blend. The nose is clean, with red fruit, violets, aromatic herbs. The palate is dry, fresh, with medium alcohol, tannins and acidity. The palate is consistent with the nose, with a nice, slightly spicy, lingering finish. Still, in retrospect, it's pretty clear why this is an uncommon blend. There's really no synergy and/or contrast between the Sangiovese and the Pinot; they are really too similar and therefore the sum is not necessarily greater than the parts. Drink now, not intended for aging, although it has enough structure to last.
