Well, since my last note I actually only seem to have one remaining, with the other in that "missing, presumed drunk" category. Nearly four years since my last - and disappointing - bottle, which left me puzzling over where this would go. (This, incidentally, is another case of the value of using CT for me, as I probably would have said it was within the last two years when I last had this.)
So, quite clear and un-spritzy on pouring. Did seem to evidence some second fermentation on nose and palate, but much more immersed in the wine as a whole and not a major issue. The wine definitely did improve on this occasion with some time, i.e., better at seven hours than at 0-3 hours. Strawberry, at later points more strawberry cheesecake, with a mineral strain, lifesaver. Pretty good and easily drinkable, but with some issues.

My last bottle of this wine. On pop and pour it smells great! Sappy cherry fruit, clean earth, and pine resin. After 30 min, hints of aromatic blood orange zest/oil emerge. Similar flavors in the mouth, with decent acidity and pleasing bitter note on the finish.

First sip was jarring. While there was no viable spritz, it had the bracing scrape of seltzer on the palate; having read previous reviews, I was still surprised how obvious the taste of the refermentation was, in-spite of the lack of visual evidence. I poured a glass and gave it a 1/2 hour. It still seemed crisp. However, over the few hours I slowly worked through the bottle, I began to question if it was not all just intense acid and minerality. It really developed a nice, nuanced, aged fruitiness, black cherries, leather, even a touch of caramel on the nose. Very dramatic transformation, if not as much in the wine as my palate through the evening. The first sip I was afraid it was a drain-pour, 5 hours later, I was very sad to see it go and thought it was absolutely remarkable. How to score this? Last impressions...
