an unpleasant bouquet on first opening, this needs 30 minutes to clear revealing quite a developed and complex wine - not a blockbuster to my taste but was very popular with my family

From magnum. A slightly weird explosive thing happened when I pulled the cork on this: some dissolved CO2 perhaps? The wine seems unaffected. This is just classic mature Tempier. Herbs, black fruit, olives, leather on the nose. Sweet fruit, more herbs on the palate. Rich but elegant, nice balance. Delicious, and such an appetising food wine.

(Domaine Tempier Bandol La Migoua) From magnum - dark ruby color; deep cherry, berry, violet nose; complex, ripe wild berry, violet, black cherry palate; medium-plus finish

Well integrated and still showing fruit and longer tannins. Stewed fruit, mild pencil lead, menthol, earthy forest floor.

From Magnum. Fullish. Dark berries. Some oak spice. Kind of generic. I am really not a huge fan of these “special” cuvées. Good wine though. (90)

Tannins present, but quite mellow, excellent acidity, dark fruit remains
