  • Private Rhone tasting. From Magnum. Very interesting wine. High acidity in a hot year. Hard to explain. Was not liked by other tasters. I found it refreshing and very individual. Appealing aromas of dried fruit. Melted tannins. Will be in that spot for some more time.

  • The cork had a leak down one side which was wet to the touch. Yet there was quite a fresh, animal nose, somewhat yucky but it brought a smile to the face. To taste it had a good hit of fruit. The tannins kicked in almost ¾ the way through the fruit flavour, then it finished with a flavour like stale beer or eggs. The fellow in the shop advised at least a 2 hour decant, giving a reason to do with natural winemaking and sulphurs. I didn’t understand all the French tech-speak. By the 1-½ hour point it was virtually undrinkable. At the 5-½ hour mark it was worse than ever: truly sickening and overpowering egg flavours on the finish and last on the palate for an age. Disgusting.
