  • Despite the name, this is not a Traminer (Savagnin) but a Gewürztraminer, as per German naming convention concerning Gewürztraminer.

Mid-deep yellow color. Very rich and exuberant nose of sweet candy, rosewater, floral perfume, some pear and a little lychee. Light and fresh in the mouth with surprisingly high acidity for a Gewurztraminer. A bit off-dry taste (actually 25 g/l of RS; doesn't seem like it!) with flavors of ripe apple and citrus fruits, floral perfume, some pear and a hint of stony minerality. Fresh and persistent finish with lively acidity, rosewater, ripe apple, some flower petals and a nice, balancing note of green bitterness.

Very enjoyable and balanced off-dry Gewürtzraminer where the residual sugar is kept in check by the fresh, lively acidity. Lovely, well-made example of the variety. A decent buy at 11,50€.
