This blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot is firing on all cylinders at this point. Both a pup by age and by comparison to it big brother, the Monte Bello, yet both its bouquet and body deliver 100% satisfaction. Inky black at its core with a deep plum rim when first popped and poured, the bouquet is redundant with plum, cassis, cedar, licorice, smoke and vanilla. The palate tracks the nose with a full-bodied roundness. The tannins are not resolved but neither do they detract. This wine has a long life ahead of it. A bit of grainy sediment in the final pour. 13.5% alc. With grilled (beef) strip steaks under sauteed mushrooms. 09.03.23. Highly Recommended.

Drinking nicely in its window right now. Classic Monte Bello notes. Makes you sometimes wonder whether it’s worth the splurge for MB! High compliments to the ridge team and this awesome second wine.

More body and freshness than the 2018 Jordan. More intensity of flavor (obv given the quantities produced). Day 2. Some green chili aromas emerge on day 2, maybe it’s just pulling aromas out of the room. Maybe it’s the American Oak? Palate is plein. Tannin is medium. I could drink this all day. Pizza and tofu and sweet corn. Blackberry fruit starts to pop out, needed a little bit of air I imagine. Blackberry, red bell pepper. Starting to kick! Noted as dry warm winter, early growing season, spring storms, low yields. Warm summer, Sept harvest. From Monte Bello, 60 tones from 41.7 acres. 81% Cab Sauv, 16% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot, 1% Cab Franc. 13.5% ABV.

Nose of black raspberry, black cherry, and red bell pepper. Palate delivers loads of rocky flavors, with cherry, dusty raspberry, fresh thyme, and rosemary. Medium tannins with light red fruits, leather, wet leaves, light mint, and acidity... but it's all a bit boring. We expected more out this wine.

Still young! Green pyrazine and tart fruit on opening. Got nice, open, and lush after five hours.
Needs another five some years IMO.
