  • CBCC "open that bottle night" 2020

A fabulous, viscous, rich and lusty white. I definitely get popcorn butter, and cedar wood & some vanilla nut. So balanced and smooth with layer upon layer of nuanced flavors. It is a style of Cali Chard I like and this is a fairly good example of that modern Napa chardonnay.

  • Good but nothing special. Profile is more aligned with a Chardonnay around half the price point.

  • Revana Harvest Party 2018: Round, fairly ripe, and lemon-curd driven, pushing out hints of popcorn and vanilla as well, this Chardonnay certainly has a decent ‘yum’ factor going on with it. Smooth and palate-coating, with a notable textural mouthfeel that allows the flavors to cascade in waves upon delivery, it strikes a nice balance between decent purity of fruit and plain ‘ol CA Chardonnay tastiness.

Medium overall, with a softer, rounder intensity and drive. An agreeable personality to be sure. Not the most complex wine in world, but what it lacks in complexity it tries to make up for in flavor. Drink now.

  • Much improved from when I last had it earlier in the year. This was a PnP so it was surely much fresher and more energetic than the flattened-out boo-boo lipped version from my last note.

Fairly straightforward attack, with signature lemon citrus, ripe apple flesh, and white peach flavors. A little grass on the back end added interest. Medium finish. Drink now.

  • A bit of a "flat" meets "fat" profile this time around. This wine screamed domestic Chardonnay, with "fat," buttery flavors of lemon curd, pie crust, clarified butter, movie theater popcorn, and vanilla bean. The attack of the fruit, however, was fairly "flat," with little mid-palate depth nor any drive to keep it going. Not overly complex; no acid or minerality to give it a hefty, much needed lift. 86-97 points at best for me.
