  • I’ve posted the only note on the Avaux previously; this bottle was labeled Beaune 1er with no further specifics. It was impossible to tell who actually made and bottled the wine as the very bottom of the main label had an additional Bass Charrington label covering any producer’s identity. Additionally, this was a Hospices de Beaune “Cuvée Guigone de Salins” wine. Odd coincidence was that the ‘06 Bouchard Corton Charlie we began the tasting with was also a Hospices Salins wine.
Very clear, cherry cola color; bright cherry fruit, beetroot and celery salt nuances; completely tertiary, very soft and gentle wine. 92+

  • Good fill; reasonable brownish purple ruby with orange cast; Classic old autumnal nose of aged burgundy; onion compote, savory vs sweet old red cherry fruit; forest floor, lovely completely evolved flavor profile with an enormously long slightly sweet delicious finish. Beautiful for its level. 93+
