Sadly, there was some mushroomy tca that detracted from what would have been otherwise a spectacular bottle. It had orchard fruit flavours and some grilled nuts. There was a hint of caramel development and a powerful finish of chalk and citrus. There was a rigid spine of minerally acidity.

Less oxidative in style than recent vintages. Fierce energy, explosive bubbles that stay elegant with super fine mouth feel. Acidity is quite present and Selosse 1996 likely needs another decade to tame its wild energy. I did enjoy its rich tensile mouthfeel and electric finish. The bouquet shows more like a 1996 CdC than a Selosse, ie brioche and nutty, with heady white flowers and lime citrus. A tremendous champagne.

Fantastic! Extremely good, big and unique. Even better than the last time 5 years ago. It must be at its top right now, but that is of course a question of taste. As i wrote the last time. Best champagne ever. Extremly powerful but still balanced. Very very complex and it kept evolving in the glass forever. Quite oxidative but in a positive style. Can take many years of futher cellaring. Very high potential. Looong long long finish. Packed with fruit and acidity. the difference this time was perhaps a bit more tropical fruit, not what I believed before we opened this bottle. Perhaps a little more vanilla and a bit more sherry to. Is it to much sherry notes? I don´t think so.

Bonkers. Just perfect, complex, wildly original, pure citrus fruit, beautiful champagne. Doesn't get much better than this.
