  • I tried this a while ago (2017?) and was not impressed. It was without charm, weak in flavor and thin and astringent. The past few years have helped a lot, because while still atypical for DS, it’s quite tasty now. It’s still light in texture, but the flavors have emerged, a mix of bright fruit and earth notes that somehow works. It also has a sour note up front that eases with air. It went very well with food—Tuscan chicken in our case—and I’d probably pair it with a good cheese if I could do it again.

  • Good. Not great. Glad this one was gifted to me. Nose of black and purple fruit. A little bit herbal. Although the purple fruit dominated the front of this wine, it never really fired on all cylinders. Purple fruit front with a little bit of cinnamon spice gave way to a darker middle. Black fruits dominated, but hint of teriyaki, beef jerky definitely there. Finished with a stiff, youthful oaky tannin. I dare say this one is still a bit young and look for more integration in the next 3 to 5 years

  • We loved this wine in the tasting room but we're not pleased with the bottle at all. Lacking flavor an depth. A little of the Pinot shows through, but the Syrah characteristics were lacking. Tried letting it breath for two hours. It that did not open it up. Am hoping if I cellar my other bottle it will improve in a few years.

  • This wine was good for about the first 20 minutes after the cork was popped. After that, it was actually rather so-so. The initial note I was getting in the nose was floral, Green Pepper, purple fruit, jammy characteristics. The entry is all about Cola and purple and black fruits. Cola is probably one of my favorite notes in a wine. The middle kind of tailed off. The finish lacks complexity. Stiff new oak tannin is likely to blame. Probably better in another couple of years. Glad this one was $0.00 for me. Not sure this even makes the top 500. I believe the proper rating for this wine right now is NR, as I feel that a couple of years of bottle aging is really going to help.

  • Great wine, and something of a mind bender. It packs the substance to evolve for several years, and could improve. Deftly crafted.
