9/08 Good nose - cherry rasberry fruit - oak with resolving finish - could use 2 hours of decanting - slightly tight - good over the next 5 years. 89 pts.

Tasted January 8, 2007 at home as part of the Wino Depot Tasting With Friends event. Opened and splash decanted about 30 minutes before serving in a Spiegelau Authentis Magnum glass. Purple color in the glass, slightly opaque looking. Slightly muted nose of blueberries, blackberries, plums and a little bacon fat hiding in there. Juicy blackberries early on but tightened up almost immediately barely giving way to some Bing cherry and black licorice notes. Medium acidity and tannins with medium to full body. I think I’d recommend holding this another 6 months to see if it improves a bit. Based on my local retail price of $17.84 I’d say the value here is cautiously recommended.

Third bottle of the evening, not sure this is a fair test. Deep color, good legs. Fruity aroma, fruity flavor and finish.

Loved this wine. Very good fuit without being a fruit bomb. Lots of oak also. Will buy more.
