  • Not decanted, consumed over ~1 1/2 hours over a short dinner at a restaurant. I wish we had time to give this more air - it started out leanly red-fruited and reticent, but it didn't take long before this started picking up nuance. Along with the slow expansion of the berry fruit, some subtle herbal notes came out, alongside a briny/saline element which worked well with our appetizers (which were generally a little lighter and included garlic and/or ginger). Restrained but dense, lovely, and with a long life ahead.

  • It's been over two years since I had one of these. An open and pretty 2012 Camp 4 Mourvedre gave me the confidence to go back to this bottling. From first pop and pour it showed well, though an hour of air had it showing even better. Deep, plummy fruit, damp earth and a hint of herb came through on the nose. It actually showed more open on the palate, as the fruit fanned out, and gave the developed tones room to roam. Still lots of substance here for development, though this was my last bottle. It's a deeper, but more suave expression of the grape than some others from California - reminding me a bit of a cross between the depth of the old Ridge bottlings, and the more aromatically expressive things that Hardy Wallace does with the grape. Very enjoyable, and clearly cellar worthy.

  • Opened this to accompany a pre-Christmas meal of Prime Rib roast, roasted potatoes, and green beans with bacon. Unfortunately, the meal overpowered this fairly delicate red. I chose this bottle based on the 2010 vintage that I recently opened, which was much more robust and would have been a better pairing. In any case, this was light and lovely on its own though, as mentioned in a previous note, seemed a bit monolithic. Recommend to wait a few more years on this one.

  • Monolithic and closed. Drank it over three days, and it remained stubborn. I will let my other bottles rest a while.

  • Subtle style Mourvedre...I actually like to drink these a little chilled...med bodied dark red berry fruits, dusty tannins with good dryness, refreshing acidity, and complex earthy and briery nuances. Love the sour cherry and riper raspberry fruit, dried berry concentration, yet lighter in body...with the dusty wood spice taming the sweetness perfectly for me. Plenty going on in flavor town...briery forrest floor, sticks and branches...cigar box, cinnamon spice, dried tobacco leaves, pine needle....YES...Mourved funk, on the subtle side. Easy drinkin tastiness here!
