One more great showing for this wine. This is as good as any Donnhoff I've had from this vineyard. The red fruit character in this wine has even more depth and lusciousness now but it still has great energy and freshness. Drained the bottle too soon. Sadly my last bottle. This was a mere $16 on release! I hope the auslese which I haven't cracked into yet will be as good.

Great showing this time. There are two facets to this and which you get depends on what you're eating, but on the one hand it has that gorgeous Hermannshohle red-cherry character in a luscious but still crisp package, and then on the other hand it really manages to dial up the precision and the fruit brightens and takes a back seat to a craggy rockiness. I wish I'd bought more of these but it's such a beauty at this point I don't know how much utility there'd be in holding 'em a lot longer.

This has turned from a pretty good riesling to a pretty good Hermannshohle over the last few years, adding a lot of depth and character. The most interesting thing about it is that the flavors now have a decidedly red-fruited personality, packed with cherries, something that's often been a feature of Donnhoff's rendition. It's got nice cut and precision at first but it's vital to keep the bottle cold because it shows more flabby sweetness as it warms up.

Waxy aroma, with bright lemon-yellow citric fruit and a stony palate presence. But once some initial energy dies down, it comes across soft, not very structured.
