Let it warm up from 55F cellar temp and air out for 30 mins. Other may have been smoking crack prior to consuming. This was popping with notes of clove, orange peel, black pepper, a bit of funk and red and blue berries. The palate is focused with an extremely pleasing mouthfeel and sense of balance to the citrus and blue-fruit flavors. Paired perfectly with oven roasted pheasant.

The alcohol on the nose is quite strong. It took awhile for any fruit to expressse itself, without much stucture. It may just be too old. The color is superb though the wine itself is thin.

For a Maison Bleue red blend, it semed a bit bland and tasteless. Not bad tasting, but not interesting at all. Let it breath overnight and did not improve.

Ripe, juicy nose with a patina of new french oak that casts some cotton candy and mocha aspects to the candied blackberry fruit. Dense, low tannin, low acidity, elevated alcohol palate with some roasty torrefaction to the dark fruit which is still quite young and unevolved. Unabashedly new world in style and, while well put together, isn't really evocative of grape or place.
