  • Some of these Washington blends age so well for their price point. CT showed scores ~90, but it drinks better. I’m likely biased as I’ve traveled the state extensively and have a palate for these profiles. This still has rich fruit, cigar smoke, damp stone, creeping thyme, and trail dust. It breaks late and finishes long. I have two more bottles - which I’ll enjoy 1 per year from here. Baer never disappoints.

  • Night 1 PnP over several hours pencil lead, bell pepper, cassis, bay leaf, coffee, eucalyptus. Night 2 added ripe banana, but with other notes more muted. Drinking well now, but I wouldn't hang on to this much longer.

  • Drank over two nights. Good stuff, and agreed with other reviewers that this is nicely Bordeaux-like in style but with a bit of extra sun. Glad I've got 2 more to see how this evolves.

  • 38% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Franc, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Malbec
Decanted for 30 min.  Oak and tannins seemingly integrated at this stage.  Translucent cherry red in color.  Lighter than the 2015.

    30 min
Nose of fruit/floral perfume, roasted coffee bean, mushroom, mint.  Palate showed restrained fruit, very Bordeaux like, medicinal cherry, enough acid to age many more years, fairly long finish.
    60 min

Nose of coffee, fresh cut green herbs, and currants.  Palate showed less medicinal cherry and more dried fruit characteristics (cherry/apricots).  Bordeaux characteristics in full force.

    90 min
The herbal notes disappeared but coffee and currants remained.  Tobacco and mushroom appeared.  On the palate, not much change in the specific notes, but everything became a little more seamless and integrated.

    2+ hr
The nose remained the same and the fruit stepped behind the earthy notes on the palate, with only currants showing through.

This was a great comparison of ’14 and ’15.  Those wishing for a more Bordeaux experience should seek out the ’14, while those looking for more fruit should seek out the ’15.

  • A nose of dark fruits and spices, dark purple in color. A medium to full bodied Bordeaux blend, with blackberry, black cherry, herbs and spices on finish. www.winelx.com
