Community Tasting Notes (9) Avg Score: 89 points

  • Handpicked from their own vyd sites; 7.9 g/L R.S. & 8.5 g/L T.A., per the winery; 11.5% ABV

N: Minerals SLIGHTLY atop hay with notes of apples & undertones of petrol

P: Med body; Very RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by a zesty acidity (& poss a very, VERY slight spritz?) which fairly seamlessly transitions into a LONG, BALANCED finish with a tangy/swtness (55:45). Not going to improve, but should hold through mid if not through '21.™ My EXC-, & I suppose one could argue for EXC based upon the QPR @ which it was purchased. Also, the relatives were not at all displeased with this bottle, I'm thinking because it was inadvertently served considerably warmed than the previous one, thereby serving to mitigate the acidity that was a problem for them last time? 16.5/20 Jancis Robinson, 89 pts ea WA (Reinhardt) & John Gilman, and 87 Mosel Fine Wines. [As of late Mar '20, wine-searcher shows no sources for this vintage].

    Addendum: Also tasted on 5/4/18, 7/30 & 9/17/19, + 1/13/20

™Though in a relatively temperate basement, NONE of my bottles was stored under truly temp controlled conditions.

N: Petrol atop pears with notes of minerals?

P: Med body; RNDISH entry with NICE, almost swtish frt met by an INITIALLY, very, VERY slightly spritzy acidity which charmingly counterbalances the frt as it fairly seamlessly transitions into a LONG, balanced finish with an intriguing TANGY/swtness (65:35), yet still (at least for me) with a discrete note of swtness. [The relatives were not NEARLY as enthralled, complaining of the acidity.] Drink now & into (early?) '21 as this MAY be drying at out at least a bit.™ My EXC-, & I can't rule OUT an argument for EXC based upon the QPR of the $13.95 pd for it in Spring '18. 16.5/20 Jancis Robinson, 89 pts ea WA (Reinhardt) & John Gilman, and 87 Mosel Fine Wines. [As of late Mar '20, wine-searcher shows no sources for this vintage].

N: Petrol with notes of grapefrt & undertones of peaches?

P: Med, poss MF, body; RNDISH enty with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt fairly quickly met by a BRACING acidity which almost elegantly evolves into a LONG, balanced, lip-smacking, tangy/swtness (55:45), with the swtness coming in with increased time in the glass. 11.5% ABV; My VG+/EXC-, the higher given the QPR of the $13.95 pd for it 14 mos or so ago. For now & through '20 (shortened from '21 as I've not been storing it under temp controlled conditions.) 16.5/20 Jancis Robinson, 89 pts ea WA (Reinhardt) & John Gilman, and 87 Mosel Fine Wines. [As of late Nov '19, wine-searcher still shows 1 source @ $20].

  • Handpicked from their own vyd sites; 7.9 g/L R.S. & 8.5 g/L T.A., per the winery

N: A melding of petrol & minerals which init comes across almost as grapefrt, though with air/warmth the "classic" petrol becomes more evident

P: Med body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by a bracing, very, VERY slightly spritzy acidity which fairly seamlessly evolves into a LONG, TANGY/swt (60:40) finish with POSS *hints* off a very, VERY slight bitterness which is, at least currently, a + with food. Went SPECTACULARLY with the slightly salty coating of my Grilled Tilapia! For now & through '21, probably 22. 11.5% ABV; My EXC-, & one can EASILY make the case for > based upon the $13.95 pd for it 14 mos or so ago. 16.5/20 Jancis Robinson, 89 pts ea WA (Reinhardt) & John Gilman, and 87 Mosel Fine Wines. [As of late Jul '19, wine-searcher still shows 1 source @ $20].

  • Small tasting glass @ VINEUM during service. Opened 2015, 2016 and 2017 at the same time...This 2015 is the most opulent at the moment, drinking very nicely!
