Two hours in the decanter. Still to young for my taste but absolutely enjoyable. Will try another bottle in 2025. More traditional in style compared to the Pelissero Tulin 2013.

The wine is concentrated and closed at this point. It needs a couple of days to open up. However, once opened up it has very sweet and long tannins, with orange rind and spiced. Also a balsamic note. In other notes I saw comments on evident wood notes. I did not find much of that at this point so I think the wood is integrated. This said, the wine needs more time in the bottle in order to become more expressive and relaxed and deliver all the power typical of this cru. As a reminder the Santo Stefano vineyard is a monopole of the Stupino family since 2012 (the last year of Giacosa Santo Stefano being 2011). Given that 2012 is not a great year, 2013 is the first great vintage of this new life for Santo Stefano.

delish - but still very young tasting, even after 24+ hours decant. will reward more years in bottle

Beautiful wine from a beautiful vintage. A lot to love here for the price.

Definitely approachable with decanting but naturally not at its peak yet. A more restrained style, relatively speaking.
