  • Dim Sum Club goes Back to Burg (Asia Grand, Odeon Towers): I was not quite sure what to make out of this wine. There was some real quality to it, causing most of us to guess a good 1er Cru plot when served blind. However, it was still so marked with toasty new oak that I found it hard to enjoy it fully. The nose was full of buttery vanilla, popcorn and toasty spice notes - so oaky that it took qutie a bit of concentration to get past that into rather quite nice notes of lemongrass, green apples and limes with a nice floral twist behind that made me guess Genevrières when we were told it was a Meursault. The palate showed more of those toasty, popcorny notes on the attack, but past that, there was a nice citrussy character, with limes, lemons and lemongrass on a green apple bed, all couched in a rather rich, creamy body. It finished with a little lick of spice, and more telltale Genevrières shades of mineral and flowers. I liked the fact that this was nicely focused and quite well-defined throughout in spite of some obvious depth and weight, with a nice litheness to it. Oak aside, this was actually quite nice, but I just could not shake off those dominant buttery, vanilla, toast notes. Maybe one to try again in 3-4 years.

  • Stinky nose at first, but cleared with airing. Mineral and citrus notes. The wine definitely improved in the glass, gaining more depth..I kept raising my score. Nice balance and fairly good length.

  • The Wine Summit; 6/2/2006-6/3/2006 (The Post Hotel in Lake Louise): Pale straw yellow, with green highlights; more upfront fruit on the nose than the village Meursault; round and soft texture on the palate; mix of lemon and sour orange in the flavours; very good mineral content; finishes just slightly shorter than the Les Referts, but a complete package here. Very, very good.

(Mischief & Mayhem Meursault Les Genevrières) Medium-pale yellow. Aromatic width with a lovely sweet brioche and faint citrus notes. This fills your mouth with wide citrussy acidity and a super length. Lithe rather than fat and very moreish!

(Mischief & Mayhem Meursault Les Genevrières) It's a 'warm' concentrated and ripe nose that starts wide rather than deep. Time in the glass shows a little baked bread and even a little caramel. Soft and well-textured palate, there's fat, but it's well-cut by the acidity - acidity that pushes the admirable finish even longer. A very nice wine.
