  • Plush red and black fruits under a veil of cigar box and vanilla. Simply outstanding. Soft but firm tannins supported by a good dose of acid and then blackberry, black plum and some sweet spices. Entering the drinking window but has years ahead still.

  • Was pleasantly surprised by this bottle. There is a lot of chocolate and vanilla oak both on the nose and palate, but it’s pleasantly harmonious with the blackberry, dark cherry and plum fruit, with a savoury almost umami thread through the wine. It is bold and somewhat obvious, but it’s also developed some interesting complexity too. Silky palate.

  • Dense color. The nose is lifted. Dominated by dried fruit and cola. Cherry & plum. Very ripe and bold. Dried fruit but not dead fruit.
Palate is rich with sweet fruit. Dense and very supple tannins. More dried red fruit.
Just to ripe and heavy. Probably at it’s peak. I like the wine although the profile is not my preferred style of Shiraz.

  • Indulgent black fruit, nose primes me to anticipate sickly sweet. Not my kind of wine. Nothing restrained or left for the imagination. Brash, overt, very fruity (dark variety, not red), totally coats the mouth on palate. Some eucalyptus and menthol notes. Vanilla enhanced sickly sweetness of black fruit, combined for a sweet palate/texture sensation. Tannins medium acidity medium to low. Could've badly used some more structure. A big wine, not bad, straightforward, structure wanting.

Australian friend hyped to me and was inspiration to drink, to be fair he greatly enjoyed it. So that was a plus - the key is for folks to enjoy, after all! But not for me. Northern Rhone, which I drink far more often often can be brooding and hedonistic too but top expressions are stunning and complex, and can even come with a light and beautiful touch - not this. I just found this obvious and offensive.

Decanted 1.5 hours before drinking. Finished ~3.5 hours after open (2 hour drinking window, had a few other wines). No noticeable difference; perhaps needed even more time in the decanter, based on other reviews. Due to my lack of experience w/ this wine I'll withhold guessing whether it can age further or not.

Originally had higher @85, but 5 days to reflect and some more wine drank since then reminds me I was reaching and trying to give it more points than I thought it deserved.

  • Just opened the bottle so it needs a little time to open up. But so far really enjoying it. Surprisingly not as big as I was initially expecting. Soft tannins, rose and blackberries up front but then longer vanilla oak finish.
