  • I absolutely love it. So pure and fresh. Nose with barnyard and fruit. Juicy palate with good acidity and grip. 7 years old and not a sign of ageing. So typical loire.

  • Vigorous wine which improved over two days.
Initially barnyard, woodland floor, chalk dominated the nose bit in day two more blackcurrant, leaf amd pepper emerged.
Firm structure, not long, but with pleasant melting finish.
Sweet fruit core on palate with chocolate notes. Very good amd will last.

  • I’ve always really loved les Quartiers. It has all of the hallmarks of good Loire cf on a frame of fresh, juicy black and purple berry fruit. It goes great with whatever you’re having for dinner—just kind of the ultimate daily drinker. This one has all of that and is a joy to drink. A savory, leafy, spice inflected nose, with deep berry juice flavors, lots of cleansing acidity, and a remarkably long finish.

It forms an interesting contrast with the 2015 drunk two days ago. This one is a bit muskier and more herbaceous on the nose, and leaner and more angular on the palate. The biggest contrast is textural: the tannins in the 15 are softer and more rounded, not quite to the point where you could call them plush, but close.

This is obviously consistent with the vintage differences, but I wonder if the winemaking might also have been “updated” a bit. Personally, I lean towards the 14.

  • Very consistent to previous bottle, good from the outset.

  • Love this Bourgeuil. So typically CabFranc from the Loire. Barnyard, some plum and other ripe black fruit on the nose. Great palate, freshness, ripe tannins and some rustic tones. For those who like Loire CabFranc!

Important edit on day two: The nose of this wine changed... So nice, so good, so fragrant! Incredible smell! Love it even more and a reason to order some more bottles.
