  • One of the few wineries I belonged to as a wine club member. Not only was the winery gorgeous atop Conn Valley and the wines were delicious, but the people are gracious and kind. Highly recommend visiting.

Though their other wines get more fanfare (mainly because there is more to go around), their CabFranc was always my favorite offering. At a whopping 2 barrels, getting access could be a bit tricky but it was always worth it. For a cab franc, there was zero green pepper notes. Aromatically, it was a combo of rich, ripe red and black fruits all dipped in fondue chocolate, baking spices like cinnamon and clove, with a woodsy note like sandalwood. While decadent in profile, there was plenty of acidity here to keep this from being too flabby. Notes of Christmas spice cake, red and black licorice, Black Forest cake shavings and a hint of herbs on the finish. Still quite youthful, this seems to just be entering a drink phase.

  • Deep garnet, beautiful dark red fruit, a bit of earth and pepper notes on the nose. Beautiful restrained dark red fruit with pepper (not green) notes, nice body, well balanced, and good structure, and a killer finish that lasts a long time, starting with fruit and drying nicely. Served with a chuck roast, slow cooked with peperoncini, served over noodles. Oh my gosh, I can still taste it!

  • Tried this right after it was bottled. Needs time!

Dark ruby red with lots of alcohol. Nose was very enticing with cloves, cinnamon, purple floral notes and dark berries. Palate was a bit unbalanced. Lots of sweet black and blue berries with some brown sugar. Not overly sweet at all just solid characteristics. Moderate tannins (5/10), medium body, and moderate plus finish. Hopefully this will fill out with age. Would not crack one of these open until after 2018. (90+ potential if it pulls itself together)
