As noted elsewhere, cork was in great condition. Almost no sediment. Straight out of the bottle it was all about dark integrated mouth-coating complex richness – wonderful nose and good length on the palate also. As it aired i did find some mintiness or sort of a sharpness coming through (alcohol, acid?)… is this what it means for a wine to “fall over”? Anyways – lovely wine, glad i held on to it for so long… just two to go :).

Excellent. Last bottle and has retained freshness and structure so well, moreso than the 2002 that it was tasted alongside and which I think is not as good. Colour: bright deep red berries Bouquet: warm spice red berries, dry plums, raspberries, blueberries, sappy cedar Palate: as bouquet, warm, mint, dark chocolate, plums, raspberries, sour cherries, white pepper, earth, with full very soft tannins, seemingly derived more from fruit than oak. Great texture and balance, developed but lots of fruit character. Great length of finish. July 2020

Had at BBQ. Browning tinged though not a huge amount. Primary fruit going. Savoury. Almost Bordeaux in style. Needed food. Probably outside best drinking window.
