Color: fuller green/gold hues. Nose: rather absent; slight minerality and a bit of green apple acid. Flavor: fruit forward flavors - star fruit, dry peach and pear - along with a bit of graphite minerality and the slightest hint of Italian herbs. The middle starts to show the acidity of the bottle which balances well with the flavor profiles. The finish is crisp and just really refreshing. Linger is 20 or so seconds. Light to medium bodied and dry.
Am a bit biased towards this bottle for the sole reason that the grapes utilized come from my family vineyard. Therefore I find myself wanting to like the bottle but at the same time holding it to a higher standard. Therefore perhaps these conflicts make their way into the judgment. That being said, this is still an excellent example of Virginia Albariño - a bit more fruit than the Spanish equivalent (really enjoy Spanish Albariños), but still just wonderful. A few wineries in Northern VA do this bottle and this one is certainly top 2 of the best that have I've tried. Very well done.
