Double Blind tasting Medium ruby color with mild rim clearing and mild bricking Medium plus aromas of black cherry/ plum with rhubarb/ leather and cigarette ash - dried florals/potpourri notes appearing with time in the glass - no new oak notes Medium plus bodied with palate of red/ black cherry with syrup notes and again ash notes Medium plus medium grained tannins and medium plus alcohol with medium plus acidity I initially was thinking volcanic origin due these ashy notes but this really didn't match the other findings I called this Aglianico but really didn't feel the color was right Floral/ potpourri notes didn't really become evident until opened for a while I really enjoy this wine and see better things to come - would hold 5-7 yrs or now with a healthy decant

Medium garnet Aromatics medium +. Black plum. Potpourri. Dry wood. Dry earth. Graphite. No new oak. Palate has a medium + body. Acid medium +. Tannins medium +, medium grained on the teeth and gums. Alcohol medium +. Dried and ripe dark plums, almost a syrup note. Black ash Finish has a medium + length. Balanced, but tannins still need more integration Dry glass notes of potpourri. Well made, dark themed chateauneuf de pape. Just not my favorite style of wine I would recommend holding next bottle for a few more years to let tannins integrate more

Thanks to this wine, I got to know another face of this region. The face, which is delicate and refined, where orange and raspberry dominate the taste, but take note, that they are "sprinkled" with a large amount of black pepper. I don't know if everyone likes it, but I do. Why? Because the texture is silky and there's also a flower and perfume effect. Crazy mixture, isn't it? But wait... there's more. A lot of herbs, for your like or not! Very long finish with all of these flavors! Smell? It's basically the same as taste! Orange, raspberry ,flowers, herbs. Strong aromas. Wine is juicy, addictive, magnetic. 2015 vintage got 93 points according to the WA Vintage Guide Wine? JS - 96 Jeff Leve - 95 Vinous - 95 RP - 93 Decanter - 93

An ardent traditionalist, Laurent Charvin makes one of the more interesting wines in the CdP AOC. There is no super-cuvée; their best fruit goes into their standard (and only) bottling.
Opened several hours prior to service. The 2015 pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, developing with an intriguing combination of fresh and desiccated brambles, Cedar forest, Christmas fruit cake, black pepper, and well-oiled baseball glove and a mix dried green herbs. On the palate, the wine is bone dry, medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, rich and juicy with surprising structure. Delicious. Drink now and through 2030+

Opened up after an hour or two. Very nice, still a little tannic, nice notes of herbs and wood, fairly tart red fruit.
