This is such an interesting wine. The nose is very vegetal - pyrazines that strongly suggest green bell pepper and jalapeno. Not as prominent on the palate but the green is still there, with strong acid and sense of minerality. Very interesting and unique wine.

Purchased this after reading about the winery in Rex Pickett's third installment in his Sideways trilogy. The wine is a pale gold in the glass (reminiscent of a young Chablis). Aromatically the wine exudes a steamed asparagus character...with some overdone steamed broccoli notes. Very vegetal. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it may not be very inviting to some. You do get some underripe pear and pineapple notes after some time in the glass. Rex Pickett described this wine as having a wonderful mineral aspect, given the vineyards proximity to the Pacific Ocean and Andes Mountains. I am very new to Chilean wines so I cannot relate to this, but I do appreciate the zingy minerality that this wine displays. Very different from the Sauvignon Blancs that I've had from Sancerre and New Zealand. I highly recommend tasting this alongside a pedigree of Sauv Blancs from the grapes best growing regions.

Medium, bright straw color. Nose of apples and citrus. Palate of crisp orchard fruit, pineapple, crushed rock/mineral, gooseberry...nicely balanced with crisp acidity. More rounded and fruity than the CA versions of SB.

San Antonio Wine Region in Chile - 3 Great Tastings (San Antonio, Chile): Terrific visit to Casa Marin in Lo Abarca Chile...this part of the first tastings at the winery. Beautiful setting and great tasting...
