Prominent blackberry nose. Blackberry and currant w/ truffle in the early palate and multiple layers of sweet blackberry jam, spice, dark chocolate, tobacco and savory mushrooms. After decanting for a couple hours, it developed a black raspberry and vanilla finish. This is a huge, intense wine that goes well with a large steak or similar fat to focus its tannins.

John Anthony Vineyards tasting lunch with John & Michele Truchard (Rossi Vineyard - Oak Knoll): Tasted in a line up of 6 wines at John Anthony Vineyards - while looking out over the Rossi vineyard grapes that go into this wine. Dark ruby color in the glass. Aromatics of dark berries (blackberry/raspberry with some dark chocolate). On the palate dark fruit, with some dusty tannins, a bit of cocoa and leather. Very nice, still a bit young and fruit forward but with the tertiary flavors lurking in the background. Very enjoyable and at $105 still an accessible price point for Napa Valley Cab.
