Fruit Day - Ullage to just above bottom of neck. Cork is high quality composite with little ingress of wine. Decanted off about a teaspoon of sediment. Opaque garnet core out to a just barely bricking edge. Nose is warm spice, blue fruit, light oak and light leather. On the palate it’s ripe, round and very smooth. The flavours are blue and red fruit, red flowers, spice and new leather. The finish is long with the spice, fruit, and florals continuing. Very youthful! There’s some spice that lingers on the back palate and the fruit supports it. This looks and tastes like a five year old wine, not one that’s 20. It’s closer to medium than full bodied at this stage of its life but has the ripe light tannins and medium plus acidity that don’t oppress it. Wonderful and I’m glad I waited till tonight to open it.

Dark in colour, intense pepper, meaty, blackberry nose, hint of smoke. Medium bodied, pretty soft, dry fine tannins, medium acidity. Soft blackberry fruit. End of life though. Mainly used for cooking.

Plenty of bad scores on CT - my guess is Rimmerman's total allotment was crap, given the ringer IWC91 score. Don't be shy when asking for your $$ back ...

(SHIRAZ Estate Pretty Sally) Deal Dear Friends, This producer is trying to do everything right and, any way you slice it, this is a crazy deal. We offered this wine a few years ago at a far higher price but (in the interim) the bottom has completely fallen from the Shiraz market and this has become available for a song. Without going into detail, a perfect parcel of this wine is on the way to us and it should be nearing peak. Known for their cool-toned take on Victorian Shiraz, Pretty Sally has been featured here many times but this is the slimmest tariff (by far) we've ever offered on the Estate Shiraz. If it means anything, this is the highest rated Pretty Sally wine ever from Tanzer's IWC and it represents a Victorian take on ripeness with a more regal approach. The 2004 Estate Shiraz is the grand vin from the estate (not a second wine) and it was never intended to trade for a bargain price. If you read the review below, this sounds like one of the very best price/value examples we've offered in 2009: ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price with perfect provenance. This parcel has been stored under ideal conditions since release and has never moved from its original shipping point: 2004 Pretty Sally Estate Shiraz Victoria (IWC 91) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Aus7822
