This has softened a little over the past few years, it may be peaking. Needed 90 minutes of decant to blow off some funk, but opened up nicely. Fine work.

Fantastically dark at the core with a glowing red edge. As Coachron13 said, this is a big, bold Cab, but it's the farthest thing from "modern" or New World in style. Dense black fruit, pencil shavings, roasted artichoke, celery, and smoke. I was reminded of a delicious Pomerol I had a few weeks ago. Everything is in balance here: the tannins are integrated, the alcohol in check, and the acid holding everything together. Prime drinking time. Rated 2 on a scale of -1 to 3.

Big, bold cab that goes through interesting transformations once opened. Starts out a little tight, but opens up quickly. Then progresses through various states over the next few hours. You get to experience oaky, smoky, peppery, fruit-forward, in that order as the evening passes. A very good wine and a great value. Love Tulocay!!!!!

Tasted at winery. Believe it or not, this could still benefit from more bottle time. Complex flavors of deep dark fruit and leather. Moderate finish.

This is a fine wine now. Nice nose, complex muted tastes and mild tannins. The was a fair amount of sediment, I recommend decanting first.
