Medium-deep garnet color. The nose is captivating. The wine is clearly in a lovely stage of early maturity, still retaining intense fruit aromas of cherry and plum. But these are enveloped by a seductive bouquet of sweet cinnamon spice, cedar wood, underbrush, mushrooms, pine forest, raw beef, seared meat, glowing coals, dried flowers, old books, blood, fresh pastry, tar, tobacco—I could go on and on. One of the wines that just seems to throw out an endless parade of aromas and changes by the second as it breathes in the glass.
On the palate, nimbler than I expected—no more than medium-bodied, and with a real lift. Absolutely silken in texture, with very fine, elegant tannin. Flavor-wise, it pretty much matches the nose, though less complex. But still plenty of juicy red fruit to go along with the spice, earth, herb, flowers, and smoke. The finish dances, leaving behind sour cherry, smoke, and tobacco, with a pleasant amaro bite.
Really, really excellent stuff, and in, I think, a pretty perfect drinking window. It won't be falling apart anytime soon, but I love the current balance between fruit and mature depth. Knockout wine and great value.

This wine is perfectly aged and in a great drinking window. Excellent balance and mouthfeel and a delicious palate of dark fruit with a bit of earth. Excellent. Upping my score a point from my prior review.

PnP Saturday night. A little flabby, ok but not great. Sunday it was stellar. Monday it was flat.

PnD let air for 2hrs.
Consistent with previous note.
Great nose. Picking up some mushroom and Parmesan rind notes to go with the fruit.
Medium lingering finish. Can go another 10 years. Complex and delicious.
