This was holding up well considering the age and the challenging vintage. Plenty of intense, concentrated fruit, though a bit angular with a weird candy note.

Aromas of black fruit. Very spicy - would never guess this to be a Merlot. Still a lot of fruit and flavor, but somewhat out of balance. Not quite sure if this would come together if cellared longer.

($25) Decanted about an hour, based on past experiences with B&H juice. Translucent at the edges, garnet in the center. Smells of wet balsa wood, chemicals-like makeup, alcohol, and flowers. Medium-full bodied, hot finish (14.3% alcohol). Initially pretty disappointing. Left me wondering if my decanter wasn't rinsed well enough. Glad it's my last one (of two). Time has not done this much good. Did take on fruit (red berries) and sweetness with further time, and day two the palate seemed more balanced, but still overall a disappointment.

($25) Dark color with just a hint of maroon and brown in the light. Intriguing nose of mint, coffee, mocha, chocolate and red fruit. Strawberry and black cherry. Has a touch of vanilla as well. Ripe, full bodied. Decent, but doesn't excite my palate much.
