  Rich and fruit-forward. Very developed. Expected it to be a bit rough but it wasn’t at all.

  Terrific nose with deep base notes of plum tart, blackberry pie, tar, pipe tobacco, blue flowers and baking spice. Very dark and almost brooding. Then in the mouth terrific acid and near weightlessness. The fruit is fresh and lifted introducing a melange of ground pepper, blackberries from the bramble, shiitake, forest floor and plum skin. It's really an astounding dichotomy between the senses. I was lucky enough to have an opportunity to taste with Jeff recently and his wines are absolutely inspiring.

  Opened two hours in advance. Aromas of dark black fruit and spice. Flavors of blackberry, tobacco, earth. Complex and mutable finish includes vanilla, spice and lemon.
  
  Bold and rich, but under control. Still young, but already (with air time) showing good structure and complexity. Classic, well made, interesting, should develop nicely. Excellent value.
