  • Same bottle as @derekdartbtaster. Nice weight, good acid and loved the fruit. Should able to last for at least 10 years more.

  • Free & easy pizza night at Maison Dakota. Drank over 2+ hours in Gabriel Standart.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, garnet colour. Legs.
Nose medium+ intensity, with earthen funk and hint of soy, which blows off to reveal aromas of dark red cherries, black tea leaves, bit of sous bois. Developed.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet ripe red cherries, dark red cherries, bits of plum and black tea, brambly earth, light spice. Medium+ finish.
Very good quality. Chassagne Rouge can really age, especially from Clos St. Jean! Drink and enjoy. Nicely mature now.

  • Durand and poured, lovely garnet with a subtle hint of bricking. Initially quite reticent, the nose unfurls within 15-20 minutes to reveal earthy aromas of cherry fruits, sous bois, nori wrapper, black tea, sandalwood talcum powder and an impression of stoney minerals. A beautiful floral note emerges with additional aeration. Moderate body, quenching acidity. On the palate, this is like taking fresh cherries and crushing them with stones and minerals. Lengthy close is dominated by astringency from a rustic wall of tannins -- hard to believe this is 25 years old! Really fleshes out with additional aeration and (clearly) has miles to go if kept in ideal storage.
Somewhat incredible for 25 yo Chassagne...Chassagne ROUGE at that!

Quick comment: Like taking a trip to Piedmont...if blinded, I would have called this as a Gattinara from the early-to-mid 2000s
