  • Opened and poured to a nice grapey purple coloring. A muted nose and a hot finish at the start. The wine opened after about 1hr to leave some nice dark fruit flavors (blackberry, blueberry) and some earthiness. A bit light overall but the tannins have dropped off. While ready to drink, it would have lasted a couple more years properly cellared.

  • looks like someone got a cooked bottle. Wonderful deep red color, and showing beautiful fruit. Still a little hot for having no new oak, so it can probably use another couple years in the bottle to really come around.

  • This is not the Beckmen that I am used to. Granted, it is very young, but I wanted to try it now to see if should buy some more. Smelled a bit sour upon opening -- uncertain whether the wine was cooked or not (quite possible). And the taste ... the taste was like prune juice gone bad. Yuck! Needless to say, I won't be buying any more. I would be interested to see how others rate this wine; if others rate this wine very differently, I might be willing to change my rating to FLAW. Until then, the poor rating stands.

    Update: score changed.
