Earthy and savory with decaying leaves, soy, pot pour, and umami on the nose. Some mushroom and ripe plummy fruit on the palate with more of the autumnal savory notes from the nose. It's still dense and structured and I wonder if some air time would wake up some of the fruit, but this comes across as fully tertiary and past it. Still a very generous and interesting wine to pour.

Opened to fairly strong barnyard note which went away after about an hour of decanting, leaving a very slightly corked aroma. Heavy on the cherries, but still with that disagreeable bitter edge I taste in other PG 2003 wines, although not as pronounced.

Decanted about an hour and a half. Medium-dark color right to the rim. Explosive aromas of ripe red fruit, some briars, Middle Eastern spices and deep, savory herbs. Ripe, forward and full-bodied flavors are open knit and powerful with black cherry liqueur, some brighter cranberry for lift and great, viscous richness. Tannins are resolved and there is decent acidity for the vintage. Just plain delicious right now, I would drink this soon while it is still vibrant.

Just going past its prime with slight maderization.

Meh. Shouldn't have waited this long, which is not something I say about Patty's wines much.
