Deeply colored for a Pernand. Reticent nose. Tart entry not showing much fruit but with plenty of green tannins in the finish. Has a salty character, almost like a grenache-based wine from the northern Rhône. Disappointing due to lack of fruit. Is that because of the vintage? Is the dark color and lack of fruit due to newer clones that do well in warmer climes like California but are unsuited for Burgundy? Hopefully time will tell.

It's all stems, acid and red fruit now; but there is some solid potential in about three years once everything starts to come together. This would pair well with steak and mushrooms, but it clashed with the chicken breast I served with it.

Not a bad showing for this burg. Terroir, acidity, minerality all take center stage here. The fruit is somewhat muted, but you can sense the bing cherry and raspberry trying to emerge. I think it was drank much too young for a full, accurate tasting note, so should revisit in about 1-2 years. This probably has the composition to age at least another 7-8 years IMO. Very solid QPR at $24.99 USD.

Still young with plenty of life. Decant for 30 minutes.
