Medium bit of bricking throughout the wine. It's rather juicy, with a bit of skin/stem tannins. This is not nearly as green as some of the other Rhys pinots and of everything I've tried, it has aged the most gracefully. Juicy rhubarb with a hint of spice and firm skin/stem tannin. A little bit of eucalypus, too. Balanced acidity. I'd continue to hold. This held up well into day #2.

-- decanted approx. 1 hr. before initial taste -- -- tasted non-blind over 2 hrs --
NOSE: ripe, dark red fruit aromas; warm spice -- not RRV cola, but rather that spiciness I've come to associate with most Rhys SCM bottlings; expressive; with air, the fruit darkens to high-toned blueberry and boysenberry.
BODY: garnet-violet color with light bricking throughout; color is of shallow to medium-shallow depth; medium-light to medium bodied.
TASTE: high acidity; embedded funky note -- leathery -- possible brett -- possible reduction -- either way, I didn't mind it much; no meaningful tannins; medium-light to medium concentration of fruit; alc. not noticeable (12.7%); still reduced or bretty at the 1.75 hrs mark. Ash gut impression score: 91 - 92. My gut impression score: 91. Drink Now and over the medium term.

A short decant, black fruit, mineral, black cherry, leather, and pepper, earth and herbs on the nose. Complex flavors showing black and red fruits, earth, leather, spice, herbs and minerality on the palate. Good acidity. smooth tannin in the finish. Showing really well now, but no hurry to open. Sadly, my last bottle.

European in style, low alcohol, mid-high acidity. Wonderful herbaceous nose with a little barnyard thrown in.
