Cantina Bartolo Mascarello Vertical (Hearth Restaurant, NYC): [Double-decanted at about 10am.] Mulchy decadent nose with notes of cherries, tar, balsam, and licorice. Gorgeous and sweet in the mouth with a long, tart, surprisingly fresh sour cherry finish. Wow. A great bottle of this wine.

Floral musigny like. Beautiful enveloping nose. Well alive and vibrant with stewed berry roibos tea notes seeped with orchid and rose petals. Peacock tail of flavours. An ethereal wine. Lovely and elegant and poised. Benchmark Barolo

Gala Dinner at Antonio Galloni's La Festa del Barolo (Del Posto Restaurant, NYC): Sour but tasty. Not as lively as the 1954 Riserva, but an elegant old lady.
