Dark opaque violet color. Nose rich, dark fruited, slightly savory tinge to a grapey aroma. Palate initially some buttery vanilla, fades with time to a chocolatey, very bright red cherry flavor — like liquid chocolate-covered cherries. Nice acidity, slightly tannic finish. Good with a slight chill, the Sangiovese (25%, from Alisos Vineyard), in particular is a nice counterpoint to the fruity richness of the merlot (25% from Jim Black Vineyard, 40% from Margarita Vineyard). Nice color and structure from the Petit Verdot (10% from Margarita Vineyard). A nice steak wine, in a good place now but would like to see how this evolves to incorporate the acidity and tannins
