  • Oregon Pinot by way of the Jura. A spunky little wine that's difficult to rate (if you're into that sort of thing) because it's so unique, particularly for the vintage. It reminds me of some 2011s I've had, but it's unlike any other Willamette Pinot from 2014.

Nose of thyme and bright red fruits, maybe even some candied fruit smell mixed in there.

The body is very light, and the acidity is high. There's bright red fruit and an herbal, savory layer too. I've been drinking a glass of this for the last hour or so, and at first I found it to to too tart (and I definitely like a good acid backbone). But now I'm a fan. The acidity is raging, but at the same time it's integrated. Time will settle it in a pleasing way, but at the moment it's not harsh, just...vivacious.

In short, this wine is fun, it's delicious, it's got character, and it's a good value. On sale for $15 it's an absolute steal, in my opinion. Drink now for something very (blindingly) bright, or hold for a more balanced wine. I see this improving and potentially becoming very interesting with bottle age. I have a few in my cellar and may buy more. For the money I'd love to drink this over a decade.
