  • This wine is developing nicely. The dark fruits are still very prominent and powerful, although they are starting to soften a little, providing a seamless transition into the mid-palate. This is a very intense wine, with power of the fruit balanced by sultry and smokey flavours through the mid-palate. Some roasted fennel has now joined the party, providing a nice aniseed lick on the finish. The tannins are soft, and have an ultra-fine, talc like consistency and the balance is good. Very nice.

  • Still a very young wine with the dark fruit taking centre stage, as you would expect at this stage of its development, but still very composed. Deep crimson in colour, the dark plum, blackberry and black-raspberry fruit are rich, vibrant and intense, the quality of the vintage obvious. Unsurprisingly the secondary characteristics are largely undeveloped, but sit in the darker end of the spectrum, think tar, tobacco leaf and cured meats. The balance is good and the tannins are soft but barely perceptible. I like it a lot. Bloody delicious actually.

Great value at a VinoMofo $11.50 a bottle. Can’t wait to see how this develops. Time to order another case.
