  • Opened at Les Climats in Paris. P&P and enjoyed over dinner.

This was a faboulous Bourgogne Blanc, but perhaps not the best bottle of this cuvee. The classic Coche notes of flint, matchstick and reduction were there, balanced by buttery chardonnay with nuttiness galore and great acidity - however nothing was particularly pronounced, even with air.

It is a testament to the high standards that Coche sets for itself that its most bssic BB still remains a class above most top cuvees from other domaines. I'd be very keen to revisit this bottle, as I suspect I just got unlucky with a slightly muted and sleepy bottle.

Will keep at this for a long time, and will definitely age - potentially with upside. Would like to see where it's at in 3+ years.

  • This is an amazing wine for a Bourgogne Blanc, and would easily go head to head with Burgundy Premier Crus, and even some Grand Crus. It improved further as it became less chilled. 93+

  • Fresh clean bright with light tropical fruits well balanced and delicious. A bit on the simpler side as one would expect, but with a concentration and balance that makes this special. In a great place now.

  • Removed from the refrigerator 15 minutes before dinner then poured through aerator into our glasses. Pale yellow with gold hint. At first tight, as the glass warmed the palate revealed pineapple, green apple, lemon, and a highly precise mineral driven finish. A kind of reserved opulence. I stuck my nose in the glass and did pick up flinty aromas but it needed swirling and was faint. After a while the palate became more gingerbread and musk and secondary and tertiary notes emerged. Nicely done and a great pair for our ginger seabream. My first Coche and though it didn’t “wow” me it’s nice to get a sense of the winemaker’s style in a BB which drank closer to a 1er cru. 93+ needs air and best paired with delicate food to appreciate the nuances.

  • Drinks like a high quality Meursault. Rich and energetic. Doesn’t seem to have any of the flint/reduction. So good for a Bourgogne.
