Found in a bargain bin, and wasn't expecting much given the most recent notes. The color was consistent with expectations, with a distinct brown hue. The nose was initially a little funky, but then gave way to earthiness, and soon to plummy. Chocolately tannins, with fading sweet fruit, this wine turned out to be much better than expected. We drank and enjoyed the whole bottle, which was quite impressive given its age and modest pedigree. Short finish, but really nice extract on the palate. Well worth its bargain price!

Wine was way past prime, although interestingly as it sat open in a decanter for an hour, it picked up a sweetness in the middle and the harshness and off flavors dissipated. Interesting evolution of an old bottle. Score based on the initial impressions.

I lost track of this bottle and it was over the hill when I opened it. The nose clearly signaled 'old' and the taste confirmed. With my bottles now in CellarTracker I hope to avoid this problem in the future.

Henrich wine club - Zins alfresco: Wine #13. Dark. Smooth and Pinot-like. Probably why I liked it.

This was a wonderful vintage. Fruit forward, very jammy with very soft tanins.
