  A blend of Carménère (85%) and Syrah (15%).
  
  Fully opaque, extracted purple-black color. Classic Chilean Carménère nose of smoked bell peppers, some jammy dark fruits and a little bit of chocolatey mocha oak. The wine feels full-bodied, extracted and sweet-toned on the palate with flavors that repeat the nose pretty verbatim, although the oak influence feels more pronounced: there are flavors of sweet mocha oak, toasty wood spice, some herbaceous chipotle tones, a little bit of plum jam and a hint of overripe blackberry. The alcohol feels quite high and the wine is lacking in structure due to its modest acidity and medium-minus tannins. The finish is warm, sweet-toned and oaky with rich and quite long flavors of smoked bell pepper and chipotle, toasty oak spice, some mocha, a little bit of bittersweet dark chocolate and light overripe blackberry tones.
  
  A very boring and dull wine, but that doesn't really come as a surprise, seeing how very boring the Viña Maipos have typically been - this is just perfectly in line wiht the house style. The wine is all about overripe fruit flavors and excessive use of oak, seasoned with Carménère's herbaceous bell pepper tones that the toasty oak renders somewhat smoky. Lacking in structure and balance, this is a very unpleasant, flabby modern wine with very little of anything that would make me want to return to it.
