  • this is the oldest vintage 3.14 i've tried to date (and my first sampling of 2006) consumed over 2 days. a somewhat cloudy almost orange hue. this wine is past its prime but not in an unpleasant way. if anything it is losing some of the special foillard morgon funk that i always enjoy and is almost more like a straight up burgandy but not the most special exemplar of such. definitely opened up a bit on the second but and became more smooth and slightly more complex but even less foillardian "funk". whereas the 2009 i had a few months back felt like it was still in the game this is more of an academic interest datapoint as to how a 16 year old 3.14 ages gracefully. still, definitely enjoyed it and just sipping the last now and regret its parting. a bit of a lingering floral note that is reprimanding me for my critical words above...

  • From magnum. Same as previous experience on 4/15. Just not as much pop as when these are 4-8 years old. Enjoyable for sure but just a little thin and one dimensional. Drink now.

  • Second experience with this wine in the past month. Last time from 750, this time from mag. Last bottle we decanted which was a mistake. It was thin and a little flat. No decant for the mag and it was better. I have some 13s of this wine that I adore. I think this 06 is just slightly past its prime. Feel the widow for this Cru Bojo 4-8 years. A little less fruit and nuance in this 06 vs the 13. This wine was good tonight and others liked it much better than I did. I didnt think it was bad by any means just feel I have seen a better example.

  • Beautiful wine. Racy minerality. Shy fruit. Balanced and long. Impressive.
