  Uncorked and poured into a wide-bottom decanter. Another lovely showing, with secondary notes starting to emerge. Notes from 24 hrs open, unrefrigerated on the counter overnight. On the nose: licorice, cola, soft mushroomy funk, black tea..fantastic aromatic complexity. On the palate: lovely acidity. Seems to have lost a little midpalate density, but still shows black tea, pomegranate, and elegance. Wispy tannin on the finish. I still prefer most other vintages to this one, but this bottle showed very well.

Significant bottle variation for two bottles from the same case, same cellar storage, etc. Brought to a traditional holiday turkey feast and opened the first bottle expecting to decant it while bubbly and appies were consumed. Unfortunately this bottle had VA on the nose (nail polish remover) and was a sour mess in the decanter. I wasn’t pleased and was now hesitant to open the second bottle but we were all glad I did. The wine was faultless, brimming with maturing red and dk red fruit on the nose and a lovely earthy, mushroom dimension that helped balance some of the sweeter dishes on the table. Nice complexity, medium plus finish. Must have been from a different barrel than the first bottle or something. Difficult to rate when it’s a crapshoot on which bottle you happen to open.   Use to be a big fan of Cameron, but haven’t purchased the last 5 vintages. Not a bad wine, just doesn’t have that “it” factor for me anymore
