Community Tasting Notes (4) Avg Score: 90.8 points

  • Not decanted, one glass consumed over ~45 minutes. Densely colored, opaque blackish red in the glass. Closed off on the nose over the time it was open - hints of dark fruit and wood with just a whiff of menthol. Weighty, but less ripe than expected on the palate and somewhat simple this evening - tart blackberries & some oak coming through, maybe a little black pepper. Decent acidity, subtle but present tannins, alcohol in check.

Based on this sample, I'd recommend drinking up before the fruit is overtaken by the wood.

  • Light purple color. Nose of dark plums, blueberries black cherries, cracked pepper, leather and loam. Full but silky with rounded tannins and moderate acidity. Rich fruit but shows a tart edge, plum, currant, blueberry, and the fruit is laced with notes of dark roast coffee, eucalyptus, cedar, leather, violets. A lot going on here. Good now but should do nicely with 2-4 years. Aged 21 months in 60% new French oak.
