Bright ruby, nose of sweet cherries, some cola. On palate, medium-bodied, rich, round, adequate structure to keep it light. Dark cherry, some citrus peel, wet leaves. Pleasant surprise. Magnien's wines are very hard to predict, from over-oaked and unstructured to others that are well-balanced and pure, both from the same vintage. The '01 Chambolle Charmes is a beautiful wine, while the '01 M. Magnien Morey Charmes (which Fredric made) is absolutely undrinkable.

Meaty, with dark fruit overtones. Flavors of black cherry, rose petals and white currants with a nice, balanced finish. 89-90 pts.
