  • A nose of blueberries and raspberry, coffee, cloves and thyme. A very fragrant fruity and approachable wine. Decanting allowed for a harmonious balanced treat. Served with braciole and pasta.

  • In September 2022 I had a 2000 vintage 94 points. Let's see what this much younger sibling can do for me.
    30 minutes in the decanter.

Lovely aromas of blueberries, blackberry, coffee, mint (interesting), vanilla.
Velvety texture. Taste goes like this:
    1st stage - milk chocolate
2nd stage - coffee, red cherry
3rd stage - coffee, black cherry, black chocolate
Finish - very long with coffee and a lot of spice
Soft, grainy tannins, soft acidity. I think it's the most delicate Merlot I have ever had
    Wine for contemplation.

  • Wieder eine sehr gute Flasche, der perfekte Begleiter zum Ossobuco

  • Just an intensely perfumed dark and brooding nose.
There’s how cement, black currants, fir trees, tar and blackberries all over the place

That is a mouthful as well. Composed and bursting at the seams with rich, yet perfectly dry dark fruits, ribbons pine and bark running throughout. This wine manages that beautiful trick of presenting as dry and dusty while simultaneously being bold and juicy and herbal.

I am quite impressed after a few hours open this wine is hitting its stride and aiming for the fences.
It is probably just at the very beginning of an ideal stage in its evolution and seems able to be in this strong spot for a few years at least.
Drink now and over at least 5 more years.

  • Ruby color. Nice nose of plums, menthol, and ground coffee. Nice acidity, complex - plenty of blackberries and plums but also anise and licorice with some tobacco and cocoa notes. Grippy tannins show further aging potential, with a lingering ending with oak, aged balsamic vinegar, and some nice vegetable notes.

This is in a very good spot but could improve further with 3-4 more years. 93 now, 94 potential.
