  • Big Bottle Outdoor Party 3.0 or so (Northern Lüneburg Heath): From MAG.
from my cellar, the one and only badly corked bottle of today!

  • Drinking nicely, totally mature, not sure how long it will hold. Recommend drinking now.

  • Oh wow... Drank this from a 3.0 liter bottle that I had snagged at Camillus house charity auction.

First of all, this baby was coddled, and I mean cellared immaculately. The cork looked like it had been put in yesterday, no bleed whatsoever.

I've not had this wine when it was younger, or from a smaller format bottle, so perhaps my experience here is down to the size, and the superior cellaring.

First off, the color is a bright medium to dark, yet clear, ruby. Looks young, absolutely no sign of any bricking, and the meniscus is violet. No indications of its age present anywhere. Moderate fines settled at bottom, however, as you would expect over the years.

Nose slightly earthy, with dark fruits and strawberry, cranberry.

Palate features silky smooth "stealth tannins", almost undetectable, but still very much present. LOADS of fruit still, and fantastic, dynamic acids that are not at all overbearing, but seem tailor made for the body of the wine.

Finish medium to long, with mouthwatering fruit carrying the end.

If you have a large format bottle of this, you are going to just LOVE the experience right now. Yet it still has loads of life left - I was somewhat wistful to see that last glass dribble out of the neck.

    93 - 94
