  Nice surprise. Pnp, very top shoulder. A clear garnet with a very wide transprent rim but not much bricking. Very clean on the palate, some dry fruit, earthy notes. Not the most aromatic wine but could have passed for an old Burgundy blind. Would have been only behind the Lafite in last years complete 72 First Growth horizontal (see separate notes)

  Tasted blind. We were tossing between Chinon (CabFranc) and a old Medoc from a period where phenolic ripeness was less. There is a clear bell pepper streak in the nose but the bouquet remains aromatically pleasant and interesting. This bottle was in very good condition and we enjoyed the palate as well. While light for sure, it was not watery or too acidic or too drying. A pleasant old fashioned Claret from a different period. I will say this though: I prefer this any time vs. some of the syrupy New world CabSavs of today. 92+

  The bouquet is the best part. Elegant oak and deep. Although there is quite much acidity the wine is a pleasure to drink and has some complexity. Now completely ready.

  Red brown. Very mature bouquet with acidity and oak. Soft and fresh wine which has just enough body to make it interesting. Long aftertaste. Completely mature. A pleasant surprise considering the vintage.
